Clash of the Clubs

How do I sign up for the Clash of the Clubs? Register for the appropriate division waitlist on your Home Club’s Court Reserve page. You will not be charged for signing up, only if you are picked from the lottery. At Mega Tonka, you will register for the lottery by signing up on the waitlist for the correct event.

What is MLP? A Tournament format inspired by Major League Pickleball. Key features include Qualifiers, Teams, and modified Rally Scoring.

How do I know what division to sign up for? Your DUPR rating must fall within the ranges specified for each division. .15 to move up or .05 to move down. If you don’t have a DPR, your rating must be verified by your club administration. Contact your club admin if you want to petition your division placement.

How many people are picked from the lottery? In each division there is a men’s and women’s qualifier. In each 8 groupings, there will be up to 12 men and 12 women selected. 48 spots total for each club.

How many players qualify for the duel? 2 of the 12 men and 2 of the 12 women make it onto that division’s MLP team.

How is the duel played? One men’s doubles match, one women’s doubles match, 2 mixed matches, and if the match is tied at 2-2 there will be a mixed doubles Dreambreaker.

How are the 12 people selected? Randomly selected.

What are the divisions? 3.5 (3.25-3.75), 4.0 (3.75-4.25), 4.5 (4.25-4.72), Open (4.76+)

How and when will I be notified if I’ve been picked? August 19th, if selected, you’ll be notified by your Court Reserve account, either by email or phone.

What dates will I be obligated to play? August 24th (gendered doubles qualifier), August 25th (mixed doubles qualifier), September 7th (duel).

What is the full timeline for this event? 3.5 and 4.0 play 8am-11am, 4.5 and Open play noon-3pm, on August 24th and 25th. You will get approximately 4 hours of total play time. Duel, September 7th, each division will take an hour and a half.

What is the format for the qualifier and the duel? Qualifier: Round robin style format with randomized partners each match. 11 rounds. Each round is 1 game MLP style/ rally scoring to 15. Win percentage is number 1 criteria and second is point differentials. 
Duel: MLP rules and scoring, men’s, women’s, 2 mixed, each game to 25. Dreambreaker format will be announced on the duel date. First club to get to 3 match wins, will win the division duel. Entire duel winner, whichever club has 3 division wins.

What do qualifier winners and duel winners receive? Each division (except open) if your duel team wins, will receive $800 per team. Open division gets $1200 per team.
Each qualifier winning team will get a free team coaching session with their club’s head pro, and 2 hours of free practice court time.
